The WVU Collegiate Recovery Program is hosting an open and continental breakfast. Serenity Place is a home like environment for students in recovery to gather, find support and fully engage with other students who are supportive of recovery. The townhouse is open 7 days a week and ascribes to an “all recovery” model which welcomes students from multiple pathways of recovery. Academic Speed Dating

Get your fill of all things academic by hitting as many of these sessions as you can during the Academic Speed Dating sessions below!  Keeping it short, fun and interesting – it is possible to learn outside the classroom.  Academic Speed Dating brings together faculty mini-lectures as well as mini-tours of some of our more innovative and collaborative academic spaces where our students take learning beyond the classroom. Breakout sessions will allow brief half-hour sessions where families and students can hear from some of our fantastic faculty, and (on the recommendation of our Parent Advisory Board who had a sneak peak of the labs and centers!) see inside and hear about the great work and projects coming out of our Launch and Makers Labs as well as Media Innovation Center. Due to space limitations, sign-ups are required for each of these sessions. Signs ups follow:

Academically Speaking:
Faculty mini-lectures Who says lectures can’t be fun?  As the academic leaders on campus, our faculty bring a lot to the table.  In short TED-Talk type formats, come hear from three of our faculty speaking on a range of topics of their choice.

WVU Aerial Adventures – Zip-Line Canopy Tours  $$
Saturday Afternoon              
Want something adventurous for your family to do? Looking to spend this Fall Family weekend outdoors? If so, participate in the WVU Zip-line Canopy Tour! Located at the WVU Outdoor Education Center, each tour will take families on an aerial tour of the University Forest while zipping among the trees. Each tour includes 7 tree-based platforms, 4 zip lines, a sky bridge, a sky ladder and a 40ft rappel. Tours typically take 2 ½ hours to complete and may be reserved online (see link below).

WVU Aerial Adventures – Giant Swing and Alpine Tower   $$
All Day Saturday
Add some adventure to your Fall Family Weekend! Located at the WVU Outdoor Education Center, the Alpine Tower and Giant Swing are two dynamic activities that allow participants to choose their own adventure level. Climb and swing among the fall colors and assist families members are they reach heights upwards of 45 feet. Families will be provided all the necessary safety equipment and will undergo a short orientation before participation. All programs operate under a “Challenge by Choice” policy – empowering participants to choose their own level of comfort as they swing and climb. Descriptions of each activity are located below:

1.       Alpine Tower: A dynamic climbing structure that features 6 unique routes. Participates are supported by a team of peers and family members capturing their process as they climb. Team climbing events and suspended elements are situated along each climbing route. Accessible and beginner level routes are also available. Participants may choose to be lowered at any point while climbing the Tower.  No previous climbing experience is necessary to participate.
Adventure Rating: Moderate

1.       Giant Swing: This specialty element is very similar to “sky coaster” activities found at amusement parks. With a maximum height of 40 ft., participants can enjoy the thrill of flight as they swing among the trees. Participates are supported by a team of peers and family members hauling them to their preferred swinging height. There is no requirement to go the entire 40 ft.  Participants may choose to be lowered at any point before they begin to swing.  No previous experience is necessary to participate.
Adventure Rating: Moderate

Go on a kayaking adventure this Fall Family Weekend! Explore segments of Cheat Lake with family and friends. Kayak along the coast and learn new skill as you venture along this popular Morgantown recreational area. This guided experience includes all the necessary safety equipment and a short orientation before participation. This is an incredible opportunity to share an adventure together in a relaxed and supportive environment. All spots are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Adventure WV – Rock Climbing at Cooper’s Rock
All Day – Saturday & Sunday
Come explore the unique climbing opportunities that are so abundant at Cooper’s Rock State Forest! Meet our Adventure WV climbing staff at Cooper’s and start with a short and gentle hike through the unique “Underlook Trail” exploring the forest floor below the breath-taking view of the Cheat River Canyon. After the warm-up hike, our climbing staff will guide you through a fun session of top-rope climbing. This includes using a harness, helmet and secure anchors and rope to climb. No prior skills required. This is an incredible opportunity to share an adventure together in a relaxed and supportive environment.

The Art Museum of WVU - Evansdale
Visitors can enjoy two exhibition galleries totaling 5,400 sq. ft. in which to view art. The Art Museum presents exhibitions organized from the university art collection as well as host traveling exhibitions from other museums around the country. The building is engineered to be energy-efficient while adjusting light, humidity, and temperature within the appropriate ranges required to protect vulnerable works of art. A university classroom, collection research room, and climate-controlled storage for the art collection are designed to meet professional museum standards. This includes photographs of Jerry West throughout his life and career, as well as his gold medal and other memorabilia that are signed by Jerry West and other NBA stars.  The photographs highlight his time at East Bank High School and West Virginia University, as well as with the Los Angeles Lakers. Visit Coopers Rock State Forest
Is there anything more lovely than fall foliage?  Not in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia!  Stop by Coopers Rock State Forest, located 13 miles east of Morgantown on I-68.  It's a short walk to the main overlook, which features a panoramic view of the gorge and distant horizons.  The changing fall leaves have never looked better!  There are several trails winding through the forest and over ridges, and a number of creeks to explore.  Keep your eyes open and you may see squirrels, chipmunks, hawks, owls, turkeys, fox and deer throughout the forest.  Picnic facilities are also available as well as a concession stand and gift shop.  http://www.coopersrockstateforest.com
